“Mom, where are my waffles?”
“They’re in the oven, dear.”
“Waffles don’t belong in the oven,” he mumbled. Jinson was getting ready for school and finishing his homework at the last minute. “Why do we have to go to this private school?” Jinson whined.
“Because you failed math and your teacher let you pass language arts.”
“Why do I have to go?” Sarah also complained.
“Because you-” HONK! HONK! “Bus is leaving!” Mom yelled to her kids.
“Bye Mom!” They yelled back in unison.
They ran out, only to see the bus doors closing. Sarah jumped into the bus as the doors closed on her dress. “Just in time,” she panted. Since the bus is leaving, Jinson had to go ask his mom to drive him. He turned around to walk up the driveway, but standing right behind him were two men in white suits.
“Excuse me, but I need to get home.” Jinson calmly said.
“No you don’t,” one said.
“Come with us,” the other one replied.
“I’m not allowed to,” he said with a hint of worry in his voice.
“You have to come with us,” they said sternly.
“I can’t!” He yelled as he tried to dodge around them. He ran up the driveway and into the house.
His mother was staring at him as if he were a twenty foot gerbil, then she started yelling. “Robber! Police! Help! Help!”
“Mom, it’s okay, I’m your son.” Jinson said to try and calm her.
“I don’t have children! Police!” The mom was yelling even louder. The men brought attention to themselves by giving a loud cough.
“Ma’am, we will take this boy off of your hands for you. Come with us, Boy.”
After they walked down the street a ways, Jinson asked, “Why do you want me? Where do you want me to go? What do you expect me to do? Why won’t my mom remember me?”
“About your last question, we erased everyone’s memory of you.”
“Yes,” joined in the other man, “no one remembers you, or your sister.”
“My sister?” Jinson asked questioningly
“Yes, just as we erased everyone’s memory, she flinched, and the subatomic ray didn’t affect her.” The man said.
“So I can remember them, but they can’t remember me?” Jinson asked.
“Right, except your sister.” The other man said.
“So my sister can remember me, but my mom can’t?” Jinson asked.
“Yes, now we need to go pick up your sister at the school, before she gets into trouble.” One of the men replied.
“Trouble?” Jinson said with a worried tone.
“Yes trouble, she doesn’t exist anymore, remember?”
“What’s in it for me, if I go, I mean?” Jinson asked with a greedy tone in his voice.
“You will have an adventure of a life time.” One of the men replied.
“And if I don’t?” Jinson asked with a not-so-greedy tone. “This planet will be destroyed.” The men said at once.
Jinson then replied, “Oh.”
They then walked up to a white car. “Get in the car, so we can pick up your sister.”
“How about I run next to you? I am good at track.” Jinson said, being completely honest.
“Have it your way.” The men said.
They left and Jinson followed them, running beside the white car. As he was running, he thought about everything they said earlier, and then he noticed the car. It was completely white. Not just sparkling clean white but totally white. The tires, the bumpers, the headlights, the tint on the windows, everything was pure white. He wondered what all that white was for.
Jinson wanted to have a break from running, but then he realized he was running in the middle of the road. He remembered the path that he took when he went to elementary school. Jinson flagged the men’s car to the curb and told them they he was going to take a shortcut to the school. They both stepped out of the car and said they were going to follow him. He casually said, “Okay,” and started walking away. The men followed him as if he were the president.
In the few minutes that it took to get to the school, Jinson had seen two squirrels run away from them. He didn’t think that it was odd, except the squirrels were white. “Why is everything that has to do with you white?” Jinson wondered aloud.
“The white represents purity.” One of the men replied.
“What does that have to do with me? Well, here the school is. Hey, the bus is just arriving!” Jinson asked as he looked up to see the bus coming in.
“I’ll go and wait for Sarah to get off the bus; you wait here because you two might scare the children. No offense.” Jinson said in an innocent tone.
“None taken.” One man said. As Jinson was running up, Sarah saw him. She was one of the first off the bus, because she was one of the last on the bus. She yelled for him to come over, so he did.
“Lily is playing dumb with me. She acts like she has no idea who I am.” Then Lily stepped off the bus.
“I am not playing dumb! I don’t know who you are!” Lily was complaining. Jinson thought of an idea almost instantly.
“Its okay Lily, we just moved here, and you look like one of her old friends, also named Lily.”
“Sarah, come with me.” He grabbed her hand and pulled her around the corner. She was so confused that she didn’t argue or pull away. “Sarah, I have two friends I want you to meet. They need our help.” Jinson told Sarah in a brotherly voice.
“But why did Lily act like that?” Sarah still wanted to know about Lily.
“Because my friends need our help so much, they had to make everyone forget about you and me.” Jinson told her.
“Okay, but where are your friends, and why did you come out of the forest?” Sarah said, because she knew that he didn’t walk to school.
“My friends are in the forest.” He replied.
They walked up to the forest and the men were gone. “Where’d they go?” Jinson asked in a surprised tone.
“Who?” Sarah asked.
“My friends.” Jinson said with an odd tone.
“You mean those two men right there?” Sarah said excitedly.
“Where are the-Hey! They weren’t there a minute ago.” Jinson yelled. The men were standing right in front of them by about ten feet.
“Hello, Sarah, we need your help along with Jinson’s.” She leaned over to Jinson, as if to whisper something in his ear.
“Which one just talked?” Sarah asked, but when she did, it made Jinson laugh.
“I can never tell either.” Jinson said wiping a fake tear from his eye.
“Jinson, have you told her yet?” The men asked.
“Told her what?” Jinson wondered.
“Obviously not. We have a long drive ahead of us.” One of the men said almost instantly.
“Before we go, can we get our stuff?” Sarah asked.
“Anything that was yours personally is packed up in the bed.” The men replied.
“Bed?” Jinson asked.
“Yes, the bed of the truck.” One of the men said.
“Truck? What about that white car?” Jinson was starting to get confused.
“Don’t worry, the truck is white too.” The other man said with an indication that he was trying to be funny.
They all walked back through the shortcut to the car. Once they got there, Jinson was shocked. There was a pure white truck where the car was. Jinson also noticed that the bed was full of bins, so he figured his stuff was in those bins. “Who switched the cars?” Jinson asked, trying to catch the men in not knowing an answer.
“They did.” One responded.
“Who are They?” Jinson asked a bit annoyed
“They is the company. Get in the car.” The men both replied with a rising tone. The men started to seem a bit stricter since Sarah showed up. Jinson didn’t hesitate to answer to that.
“Come on Sarah, let’s get in the truck.”
“No, not the truck, the car.” The man said. “What car?” Jinson asked. Jinson looked over and saw that the truck was gone, and in its place was the car again.
“Can you stop switching the cars? It’s getting annoying.” Jinson asked in almost a begging tone.
“Like I said, we don’t switch the cars.”
Jinson hesitatedly answered, “Okay, I’ll get in.”
As they climbed in, they couldn’t smell anything. No exhaust, no trees, nothing. The men got in on their own sides, and started to drive. As they were driving, Jinson couldn’t hear anything. Yes, he could hear the noise outside, and the tires moving across the road, but he couldn’t hear the motor. “Does this car have a motor?” Jinson wanted to know.
“Yes it does.”  They replied.
“Why can’t I hear it then?” Jinson was trying to find the answers to his questions.
“It’s made out of a rare mineral call atherium.” They said commonly as if they were talking about tin.
“I’ve never heard of that before.” Jinson said in a wondered voice.
As they were driving, Jinson was looking out the window. He was noticing streets that he had never seen before. He had grown up in this town, and explored most of it. His mom had never let him go to the north part of the town, so he figured this was in the northern part.
“We’re here.” The men said.
“Huh?” was all Jinson could say, because he was almost dumbfounded at how quick it took.
“We have arrived at headquarters.” The men said.
“Oh, where is it located?” Jinson asked just to see if it was in the northern part of town.
“Over there.” Is all the man said.
“No, I mean city-state wise.” Jinson asked with a slightly angered voice.
“Walk this way please.” The men said.
“Hey, Sarah, get used to them not answering your questions. They usually don’t.” Jinson told Sarah. With that, the group progressed up the stone path that led up to the door.
